According to Microsoft, there are 4 types of users: Internal and external members, and Internal and external guests. The details of which are in Rencore Governance:

Internal member: The home tenant of the account is the current tenant (IsExternal set to False), and the User Type is “Member”.
External member: The home tenant is different than the current tenant (IsExternal set to True), the user was invited, and the User Type is set to “Member”.
Internal guest: The home tenant of the account is the current tenant (IsExternal set to False), and the User Type is “Guest”.
External guest: The home tenant is different than the current tenant (IsExternal set to *True**), the user was invited, and the User Type is set to “Guest”.
