Manage Your Metadata

Custom Metadata is in Preview. Contact your Customer Success Manager to request access.

Manage your metadata lists every Custom Property, Custom Relation, Custom Object, and data source across your Environment in one grid, grouped by service. Use it to add new customizations, and to edit or remove the ones you already have.

To open it, on the Inventory page click “Inventory Options” ([…]) and select “Manage your metadata”.

Adding a Customization

Click the ellipses menu ([…]) in the top-right of Manage your metadata. It has two options: ”+ Add custom object”, and ”+ Add custom metadata”, which takes you to a screen with a Custom properties section and a Custom relations section, one for each. See Create a Custom Object, Create a Custom Property, and Create a Custom Relation.

Editing a Customization

Click a row to open it for editing. For a Custom Property, you can change its name, its default value, and, for a Single select property, its list of choices.

Renaming a Single select choice updates the value on every object that carries it, and any filter using that choice keeps matching. Removing a choice shows how many objects carry it before you confirm, then clears the value on those objects.

Removing a Customization

Removing a Custom Property, Custom Relation, Custom Object, or data source first lists what depends on it, Policies, Segments, Reports, Reviews, Provisioning Templates, and Automations, so nothing breaks without warning. Confirming the removal deletes the property’s stored values from every object that carried it. Reviews that reference the property are listed but not removed, you may want to update them separately.

Removing, editing, and creating all require the inventory’s Edit permission.

Visible in Teams App

The Visible in Teams App toggle next to each property controls only whether it appears in the Teams App workspace details view, as a read-only property. It does not add the property to a Review or a Provisioning Template, those are chosen separately per Review and per template.
