We’re announcing version 30.0.0, which brings comprehensive governance capabilities for Microsoft 365 Groups to the Rencore Teams App platform. This release introduces full review and workspace management support for Microsoft 365 Groups, enabling organizations to maintain control over group ownership, membership, and lifecycle. You can now apply the same governance rigor to Microsoft 365 Groups that you’ve been using for Teams, SharePoint, and Viva Engage communities inside the Rencore Teams App.
Features
- Rencore Teams App Reviews for Microsoft 365 Groups: Review and manage Microsoft 365 Group owners and members with a dedicated review workflow. The review interface displays group details including privacy settings, membership type, email address, and expiration dates. You can add or remove owners and members, with built-in enforcement to maintain at least one owner per group. The system intelligently handles nested groups with one-level expansion and prevents modifications to dynamic groups, which are managed automatically by membership rules.
- Review Builder for Microsoft 365 Groups: Create and schedule Microsoft 365 Group reviews through the review builder. Select Microsoft 365 Groups as your review trigger alongside Teams, SharePoint, and Communities, then apply group-specific filters to define your review scope. Configure custom automations designed for Microsoft 365 Groups, set reviewer assignments, and establish review schedules with flexible recurrence options.
- Rencore Teams App Workspaces for Microsoft 365 Groups: Access a dedicated workspace to view and manage your Microsoft 365 Groups. The workspace displays group ownership and membership summaries, provides filtering by your ownership or membership status, and shows detailed group information including privacy settings, membership type, email, and expiration dates. You can manage group owners and members directly from the workspace, with support for nested group expansion and clear indicators for dynamic groups that cannot be manually edited.
- Automation Templates for Microsoft 365 Groups: Two new automation templates are available for Microsoft 365 Group reviews. The Delete Group template sends a notice email to group owners and permanently removes the group along with all connected resources including the Team, SharePoint site, Viva Engage community, group mailbox, calendar, Planner tasks, and OneNote notes. The Delete Group with Approval template routes deletion requests through an approval workflow, with separate paths for approval and rejection, ensuring proper oversight of group deletions.
Bug Fixes
- Policy Builder Correlation Error: Resolved an issue where selecting a prebuilt policy template and modifying the reported object type could result in a correlation ID error when saving the template. The policy builder now handles object type changes reliably without encountering reference errors.
