Violation
Also known as: policy violation, finding
A violation is an inventory object that matches the rule of an active policy, such as a Team with no owner. It can trigger an automation that notifies the owner or fixes the object.
Rencore Governance recalculates violations as scans update the inventory and shows the total, new and removed counts and a trend for each policy.
Each violation names the object and the policy it breaks, so the owner knows what to fix.
For example, the policy Teams without owners lists one violation per Team without an owner. When an owner is added, the violation disappears after the next scan.
Click Policies on the Nav Panel and open a policy to see its violations.
Violations and automations
An automation with the trigger On Policy Violation runs after scans and scan batches that update the policy, at most once a day per object, and runs again on later days for each object as long as it stays a violation. An automation On Schedule can also run on the violations of a policy. You can summarize violations by a related object, for example one row per site owner instead of one per site.
