Find and fix oversharing
AI summary
Rencore Governance identifies and fixes oversharing across SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Create reports to spot files and sites shared externally, policies to automatically flag violations on every scan, and automations to remove access or ask owners to review and clean up sharing. Access reviews let you confirm that sharing is appropriate across entire sites or teams.
Find content that is shared more widely than it should be, then remove the sharing or ask the owners to clean it up.

Frequently asked questions
Which add-on do I need to see sharing data for single files and folders?
You need the Files & Folders add-on. Without it, sharing data for single files and folders is not available. SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams must also be connected and scanned.
How do I create a report of externally shared files in SharePoint?
Create a Custom Report on the SharePoint object "File Sharing". Filter on "Link Kind", "Is External" or "Shared anonymously", click Preview to check the results, then save the report.
Does the remove document sharing action remove only one sharing link?
No. The action "Remove document sharing" removes all sharing on the file, not one link. Test an automation that uses it on a few files before you run it on a whole policy.
How can I remove sharing automatically for every policy violation?
Create a Custom Automation with the trigger "on policy violation" and the action "Remove document sharing". For OneDrive, the template "Remind OneDrive Owners of externally shared files" emails the owners once a month instead.
Can I review access for a single file or folder?
No. A review covers a whole site or Team, so a single file or folder cannot be reviewed on its own. Owners complete the review in the Rencore Teams App.
