Policy
Also known as: check, compliance policy, custom policy, policy template, Policy Builder
A policy is a governance rule that Rencore Governance checks against your inventory, for example Teams without owners. Every object that matches the rule is a violation.
Each policy has a primary object type, a filter built in the Policy Builder, a category and a severity. You add policies from the Policy Template Library or build custom ones from scratch or from a report.
Policies are how you write down your governance rules so Rencore Governance can check them all the time, not only during an audit.
For example, the policy Teams with less than 2 owners lists every Team at risk of losing its last owner, and an automation can email its members to add an owner.
Click Policies on the Nav Panel to see the top violations per connector or category, open all policies or add one.
Working with policies
When you save a policy, you save it as a draft or turn it on right away. An active policy shows results from the data of the last scan. You can summarize violations by a related object, export and import policies, and trigger an automation whenever a policy is violated.
Some screens and older pages call policies checks.
