Autonomous agent
Also known as: autonomous Copilot agent, event trigger
An autonomous agent is a Copilot Studio agent that an event trigger, such as an email or a schedule, starts without a user chatting with it.
The Copilot Studio connector of Rencore Governance lists the triggers that start each agent as their own inventory object, Trigger. The segment Autonomous Agents shows agents that have an external trigger, such as an email or a recurrence.
An autonomous agent acts with nobody watching each run, and event triggers can change how Microsoft bills its usage. An agent on a schedule can build up cost without anyone starting it.
For example, the policy template Autonomous Copilot Agent with Scheduled Trigger flags agents that run on a recurring schedule, and Autonomous Copilot Agent Risk flags agents started by email or a schedule.
To act on the spend, an automation with the action “Quarantine or release a Copilot Studio agent” stops an agent from answering until you release it.
