Knowledge source

Also known as: agent knowledge

A knowledge source is data that a Copilot Studio agent uses to answer, such as public websites, SharePoint and OneDrive, Dataverse or uploaded files.

The Copilot Studio connector of Rencore Governance lists the knowledge of each agent as its own inventory object, Knowledge, with its data source type and the SharePoint site it points at.

An agent answers from its knowledge sources, so stale or uncontrolled sources give stale or uncontrolled answers. A public website can change without notice, and a confidential site can expose content to everyone who chats with the agent.

For example, the policy template External Web Content Dependency Risk flags Copilot Studio agents that use public websites as knowledge sources. Segments such as Public Website Knowledge and Sharepoint and OneDrive Knowledge group the knowledge by data source.

Rencore Governance reads agent knowledge from Dataverse, so the Dataverse setup and consent for Copilot Studio are required.
