Inventory object
Also known as: object, entity, object type, root object, child object
An inventory object is one item Rencore Governance has scanned from a connector, such as a single Team, SharePoint site collection, user or Power App.
Each object belongs to an object type, also called an entity, with its own properties and relations to other objects. Policies, reports and segments are each built on one primary object type.
Everything in Rencore Governance starts from objects. A policy checks objects, a report counts them and an automation acts on them.
For example, a Team is an object of the Teams connector. Its members, channels and SharePoint site are related objects you can filter on.
Click Inventory on the Nav Panel, hover over a connector tile and click Go to Inventory to see its objects.
Root and child objects
Partial scanning sorts objects into root objects, such as a site collection, a team or a user, and child objects, such as the members, channels and SharePoint site of a team. Child objects are always scanned together with their root.
Turning objects off
Under Configure objects you can turn off an object type, or a single property or relation, and change how often it is scanned. Turning off an object type removes its data and the policies that depend on it. Custom Metadata adds properties and object types of your own.
