Relation

Also known as: related object, primary relation

A relation links one inventory object to another, such as a Team to its owners, members and channels. Policies, reports and automations use relations to work with the related object.

On the Related Objects page of an object, primary relations load straight away with a count. Other relations are grouped by connector and load when you open them.

Relations let a rule look past the object itself. A policy can add related objects to its logic, and a segment can filter on a related object.

For example, a policy on Teams can be summarized by a related object, such as the owners. An automation on that policy then runs once per owner instead of once per violation.

Under Configure objects you can turn off a relation or change how often scans refresh it. A Custom Relation from the Custom Metadata add-on links an object to one instance of another object, such as a Team to its cost center.
