Segment

Also known as: inventory segment, Segment Builder

A segment is a saved, rule-based filter over inventory objects, for example every user whose country is the United States. Segments are recalculated as scans update the inventory.

You build a segment in the Segment Builder from an object type, property filters and related objects. You can create a segment from a report, and export and import segments as files.

Segments let you work with the same group of objects again and again without rebuilding the filter, for example in reports and dashboards.

For example, a segment of all Teams with external members, recalculated after every scan, always shows the current list.

Click Inventory on the Nav Panel, go to the inventory of a connector, open the Object Menu and click Add Segment.

Segment or Virtual Environment

A segment filters objects inside the inventory. A Virtual Environment splits a whole Environment, with its own dashboards, policies, reports and permissions. The two are separate features.
