Provisioning template
Also known as: workspace template, Provisioning Template Library, PnP provisioning template
A provisioning template defines how a new Microsoft 365 workspace is created through Rencore Governance. It creates a team, a SharePoint site, a Microsoft 365 group, a Planner plan or a Viva Engage community.
The template holds the workspace settings, who can see and use the template, the fields on the request form and whether the request needs approval. You start from the Provisioning Template Library, then turn templates on or off, export them or import them.
Templates keep new workspaces consistent. Every Team or site created from one has the same settings, naming and required fields.
For example, a Project template can create a private Team with suggested channels, a naming prefix and a required cost center field, and send each request to an approver.
Click Provisioning on the Nav Panel to see your templates or add one from the Provisioning Template Library.
Rencore Governance comes with out-of-the-box provisioning templates, and you can create your own.
Building a template
The template builder has three parts: Template Settings, Provisioning Settings and Approval. A template can apply a PnP provisioning template, suggest Teams channels and enforce naming conventions within the documented limits.
