Archiving

Also known as: archive, archived team, unarchive

Archiving puts a Team or SharePoint site into a read-only state when it is no longer in active use, without deleting it. Rencore Governance archives through actions and automations.

The Archive or unarchive a Team action switches the Microsoft Teams archive mode, and Archive a Site and Unarchive a Site do the same for SharePoint sites. Automations such as Archive unused teams run these actions on inactive workspaces.

Archiving does not move content to an external archive system. It also does not change the lock state of the Team’s SharePoint site collection. A separate automation action sets the site collection to read-only.

For example, the Archive unused teams template archives teams that a policy flags as inactive. With an approval step, the owners decide first.

The archive actions need the permission to read and change all teams’ settings. In the automation builder, you find them under the Archiving type.
