Automation action
Also known as: ticketing integration
An automation action is a single operation an automation step performs, such as sending an email or archiving a Team. The actions available depend on the connector of the objects.
Other actions post to a Teams channel, remove a user from a group, or call an external system with Send HTTP request, Trigger webhook or Trigger Azure Function.
Actions are the building blocks of an automation. You add them as steps in the automation builder, and they run in order on each object the automation runs on.
For example, an automation on the policy Teams without owners can have one step that emails the members and a second step that archives the Team.
Calling other systems
Send HTTP request and Trigger webhook connect automations to other tools. For example, they can start a Power Automate flow or create a ServiceNow incident through the ServiceNow REST API. Action fields can use placeholders, such as {{SiteCollection.Url}}, that are filled from the object the automation runs on.
The automation actions reference lists every action for each connector.
