Classic site

A classic site is a SharePoint site built on the older classic experience, with classic pages and lists instead of modern ones.

Rencore Governance finds classic sites with the SharePoint connector. A policy and a report list them, and a second policy lists the classic sites nobody uses.

Microsoft recommends moving classic sites to the modern experience. Classic sites that nobody uses are candidates for archiving or deletion instead.

For example, the policy Unused Classic sites is one of the templates for archiving inactive SharePoint sites, next to SharePoint site is inactive for more than 90 days.
