Storage limit

Also known as: storage quota, site storage limit

A storage limit, or quota, caps how much space a SharePoint site or a OneDrive can use from the storage of your tenant.

Rencore Governance reports the quota and the storage used of every site collection and OneDrive. Policies flag the ones close to their limit, so you can act before they fill up.

When a site reaches its quota, people cannot upload more files to it. A warning ahead of time gives the owners a chance to clean up first.

For example, the policies SharePoint Site collections near storage limit and OneDrives near storage limit flag anything over 90% of its quota. You can lower that percentage in the policy logic, for example to 80%.

To warn owners, use the automation template Warn OneDrive owners if their OneDrive reaches storage limit. To change the quota of one site, run the built-in action Set Quota for Site Collection from the inventory.

Limits

A site without a quota never reaches a percentage, so the percentage policies do not flag it. Mailbox storage is not covered.
