Site collection

Also known as: SharePoint site collection

A site collection is the top-level SharePoint container that holds a root site, its subsites, lists, libraries and files. In Rencore Governance it is a root object of the SharePoint connector.

Partial scanning scans each site collection together with its child objects. Policies check site collections for ownership, labels, storage and sharing, and actions archive them, set them to read-only or delete them.

A Team has a related SharePoint site collection for its files. Archiving the Team does not change the lock state of that site collection. You set it to read-only with a separate action.

For example, policies flag site collections with fewer than two owners, site collections without a sensitivity label and site collections near their storage limit. Delete SharePoint Site Collection moves a site collection to the site collection recycle bin, and a restore action can bring it back.

Site collections are on the SharePoint tile under Inventory. The SharePoint connector page lists every policy and action.
