Microsoft Fabric
Also known as: Fabric
Microsoft Fabric is the Microsoft analytics platform for end-to-end data work, with Power BI as one of its workloads. It stores its data in one shared data lake, OneLake.
Fabric covers data ingestion and transformation as well as real-time analytics and reporting. It brings data engineering, data warehousing, data science and real-time intelligence together in one software-as-a-service offering. Tenant-wide Fabric settings are managed by users with the Fabric Administrator role in Microsoft Entra ID.
Microsoft Fabric is a Microsoft term. In these docs it comes up in the name of the Fabric Administrator role: the account that gives the Power BI consent needs that role and a Power BI license. The Fabric Administrator role is a Microsoft role in your tenant, not a Rencore Governance role.
What Rencore Governance scans in Power BI is listed on the Power BI connector page and in the Power BI inventory.
