Microsoft Entra ID

Also known as: Entra ID, Azure AD, Azure Active Directory

Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory, is the Microsoft identity service behind every Microsoft 365 tenant. Rencore Governance registers its applications there and scans it with the Entra ID connector.

Connector: Entra ID (generally available). Rencore Governance covers 22 object types and 14 policies for Entra ID.

Your administrator consents to the Rencore Governance applications in your Entra ID and can revoke them there. The Entra ID connector scans app registrations, enterprise applications, client secrets, certificates, directory roles and risky sign-ins into the inventory.

The consent you give Rencore Governance is stored on its enterprise applications in your Entra ID. That is why you revoke permissions in the Microsoft Entra admin center, under Enterprise Applications, and not in Rencore Governance.

For example, Entra ID policies flag client secrets and certificates that have expired or are about to expire, and applications without owners, so an app does not stop working unnoticed.

Some connectors need extra setup in Entra ID before you can consent. For Copilot Studio and Power BI, you create an app registration in the Microsoft Entra admin center and enter its IDs when you give consent.
