SharePoint agent

Also known as: SharePoint Agents

A SharePoint agent is an AI agent that helps users find information and insights on SharePoint sites and document libraries. It answers each user from the content they have permission to access.

Connector: SharePoint Agents (generally available).

It works as Copilot does in other Microsoft 365 apps. In Rencore Governance, SharePoint agents are part of the AI & Agents module: they are listed in the SharePoint inventory with their site collection, document library, instructions and approval state, and policies check the agents and the sites they read.

Policies flag agents that are not approved, agents that reference a confidential site without approval, agents that use an outdated site collection or list, agents that reference more than two site collections, and site collections with more than 10 agents.

An agent answers from the files on its site, so the site policies matter too: site collections without a sensitivity label, files shared with external users and site collections with fewer than two owners. SharePoint agents come with the AI & Agents module, an add-on module on the Premium and Enterprise Plans. Rencore Governance scans them through the SharePoint connector.
