Delete a Claude project from the Inventory

The “Delete Project” built-in action permanently deletes a Claude project from your Claude Enterprise organization, without building an automation first. The project’s custom instructions and knowledge documents are deleted with it.

Before you start

You will need:

• An Anthropic Compliance Access Key with the delete:compliance_user_data scope, entered on the “Automations/Actions” tab of “Manage consent”. See Anthropic consent.
• A project with no chats attached. Anthropic does not delete a project while chats are still attached to it.
• A role that is allowed to use the “Delete Project” action. See Action Permissions.

Delete a single project

To delete a single Claude project, you will need to:

1. Click on “Inventory” on the Nav Panel.
2. Hover over “Anthropic (Preview)” and click “Go to Inventory”.
3. Open the Claude Projects object.
4. Click on the desired project, then click “Go to Object”.
5. On the details page, click “Delete Project” on the right side of the screen.
6. Confirm the action in the dialog.

Delete several projects at once

To delete several Claude projects, you will need to:

1. Click on “Inventory” on the Nav Panel.
2. Hover over “Anthropic (Preview)” and click “Go to Inventory”.
3. Open the Claude Projects object.
4. Select the desired projects.
5. Click “Actions” and select “Delete Project”.
6. Confirm the action in the dialog.

Each deleted project is removed from the Claude Projects Inventory. If a project cannot be deleted, the reason from Anthropic is shown in the run history. For a full walkthrough of built-in actions, see Executing an Action.
