Mailbox
Also known as: user mailbox, shared mailbox, room mailbox, resource mailbox
A mailbox is an Exchange Online recipient that stores email, calendar items and contacts. It can belong to a user, be shared, or represent a room or equipment.
The Exchange connector of Rencore Governance scans the mailboxes of your users, rooms and equipment, and the redirect rules set on them.
Mailboxes hold much of what a company sends and receives. Knowing which mailboxes exist, and where their mail is sent on to, shows where that information can leave the organization.
For example, the policy Mailboxes with external redirect rules flags every mailbox with a rule that sends mail to a recipient outside your organization.
Mailboxes are on the Exchange tile under Inventory. Microsoft hides user names in its usage reports by default, so user mailboxes can show codes instead of names until a Global Administrator turns that off.
Limits
Mailbox storage is not covered by the storage policies and actions, which work on SharePoint sites and OneDrive.
