Microsoft 365 group

Also known as: M365 Group, Office 365 group

A Microsoft 365 Group is the membership object behind many Microsoft 365 workspaces. It gives owners and members shared resources, such as a mailbox, a SharePoint site and a Planner plan.

The group also backs the Team built on it. Rencore Governance scans groups with the Microsoft 365 connector, including deleted groups, and policies flag groups with external owners or members.

The Rencore Teams App lists the Microsoft 365 Groups a user owns or belongs to next to their Teams, SharePoint sites and Viva Engage communities, so owners can manage members in one place.

For example, actions on the Microsoft 365 connector add or remove users, set the sensitivity label of a group or restore a deleted group.

Groups are on the Microsoft 365 tile under Inventory. The Microsoft 365 connector page lists its policies and actions.
